This image of exploding galaxies was the winner of the 2006 International Nanoart Competition, and was shown at an invitational exhibition in Finland, Austria, and India, and has been featured in many media articles, including in the NY Times. Nanoart is the latest melding of science and art, and uses an electron microscope photograph of a nanoparticle as the base picture. This photo is then computer manipulated to achieve the final image.
